The right RUR home composter depends on how much kitchen waste your household generates each day. The RGGC-XS is designed for small families producing up to 1 kilogram of waste daily and fits comfortably on a balcony, terrace, or utility corner, with a 50 kilogram total capacity. The RGGC-XS Dual suits families producing 2 to 3 kilograms a day, or two households sharing a single unit, with a 100 kilogram capacity. The RGGC-S is built for larger homes or small community pilots producing 3 to 5 kilograms a day, also with a 100 kilogram capacity.
No. The RUR home composter is a sealed, aerobic system, which means the waste inside decomposes with a constant supply of oxygen. Odour in composting comes from anaerobic breakdown, which happens when waste rots without enough air. Because the RUR composter keeps the material aerated, the waste breaks down cleanly without the foul smell people associate with home composting.
With a RUR home composter, kitchen waste becomes finished, usable compost in approximately 30 days. During this period you simply add your daily kitchen scraps and give the drum one gentle rotation each day to keep air moving through the material. The process requires no special skill, no chemicals, and only about thirty seconds of effort each day.
